Hey Green Fire community!
I'm Coach Trista, coming to you straight from the gym during this incredibly hot week. I want to make sure everyone is staying hydrated! Now, let's dive into some of the exciting upcoming events and programs we have scheduled here at Green Fire.
Supporting Our Adaptive Athlete, Jasmine Mock
First and foremost, we have fantastic news about our very own adaptive athlete, Jasmine Mock. She is headed to the CrossFit Games in San Antonio this September! We're all incredibly proud of her achievements and determination.
In honor of Jasmine, we're hosting a special event next weekend. This is a unique partner workout where we'll all get to experience workouts just like Jasmine does — seated and requiring full upper body strength. It's crucial for us to understand how challenging it can be for her every day, and this event will certainly give us a new perspective. If you're not local, we encourage you to host a similar event at your gym and join us in spirit.
Attending the CrossFit Games is a significant expense, over $400 for registration alone, not including food, flights, or hotels. Any support you can provide, whether by donating or participating in the event, would be greatly appreciated. This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Jasmine, and we need to ensure she gets the support she deserves.
Introducing New Programs
We've got some exciting new programs lined up and I want to highlight a few of them here.
Hyrox Competitions
We're thrilled to bring Hyrox training to our gym. More Hyrox competitions are on the horizon, and there's even a fantastic episode about it on the Buttery Bros' YouTube channel for those interested. Whether you're an elite athlete or looking to participate in a couples' tournament, Hyrox offers various opportunities to test your fitness and have a great time.
Legends Program
Partnering with JP, we've launched the Legends program, aimed at the 55+ age group. Our goal is to help older adults stay active, maintain their independence, and improve overall well-being. This program is about keeping you mobile and healthy, so you can enjoy activities like playing with your grandkids or pets. If you know someone who could benefit from this program, please send them our way.
Kids Program
Starting July 1st, our kids program kicks off once again. It's one of my favorite parts of the day, watching children develop skills, both cognitive and physical, forming friendships, and just having fun. These 45-minute sessions are designed to keep kids engaged and active without overwhelming them. We're excited to see our young athletes grow and develop, possibly following in the footsteps of our more seasoned members.
Mark Your Calendars: Upcoming Events
Annual Blood Drive
Looking ahead to October, we're hosting our second annual Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on the 4th at the arena. Last year’s turnout was fantastic, and with the current blood shortage, we hope to see even more participation this year. Every donation makes a significant difference.
10-Year Anniversary Gala
The following day, we're celebrating our 10-year anniversary with a gala at Disobedient Spirits in Homer City. This event will feature catering, your first drink on us, awards, and speeches reflecting on what Green Fire has meant to us all over the past decade. It’s going to be a fantastic celebration, and we can't wait to share it with you.
Conclusion
We’re incredibly excited about these upcoming events and programs. Our mission at Green Fire is to keep our community healthy, active, and engaged. From kids to grandparents, we're here to support you every step of the way. Stay tuned for more updates and if you have any questions or suggestions for our blog, please let us know. We’d love to hear from you!
See you at the gym,
Coach Trista
